Puppy Introductions

Got a new addition to the family?

Top Dog would love to meet them. You can book an appointment once they:

  • Have had their second booster vaccination

  • Are at least 15 weeks old.

Has your Puppy been to a groomers before? Please mention, when making an inquiry, if they've been introduced to anything or if this visit will be their first.

What's included with a Puppy Introduction?

  • Bathing & drying : this gets them used to the sounds and routine

  • Nail clipping

  • Tidy around the feet & eyes

  • Sanitary Trim

  • Clippers turned on : this lets them experience the sounds and vibrations before having it on their body

Ideally, a couple of these sessions will be done first before a Full Grooming session is carried out. This is so that they have experienced the equipment in good time. I like to go at their pace to make the session as stress free as possible.

If, however they are still nervous, I will use scissors to tidy as much of the coat as possible to make it more management at home.

Please don’t expect clippers to be used on their first visit, especially if they've not experienced any equipment before.

So, how long does a Puppy Introduction take?

Depending on the coat condition, length and their behavior, the average time is normally around 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours.

A Grooming routine will be new to them. Some accept it straight away. Others may resist certain things. This could be clipping their nails, or trimming their feet and around the eyes.

The time spent with me will involve some playtime afterwards to end the session with. If they have a favourite toy, please feel free to bring it along.

How much does a Puppy Introduction cost?

Prices start from £30 and will depend on the condition of their coat and how they behave.
